Lee/Collier 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) Update, Lee and Collier MPOs

This plan update was unique in that it involved two counties in Southwest Florida, combining efforts to create both individual and regional transportation plans. In this project, SRI facilitated communication and conducted a significant amount of public involvement efforts, leading to the development of the LRTPs. One of the unique facets of this project was the outreach strategies that were developed to engage the tribal and underserved communities. Using GIS mapping and Census data, our staff identified and visited the underserved communities to introduce our team and understand their preferred method of contact. This provided opportunities to share information and gather input, as well as to help bridge the communication gap between our clients and the community.

Tampa Rail Major Investment Study/Environmental Impact Statement, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority, Tampa

This project challenged SRI to comprehensively coordinate stakeholders in four counties, requiring more than 200 presentations, committee meetings and public hearings and extensive multimedia materials. SRI was involved in all facets of the project, including the planning, engineering and visualization components. Our firm developed all project materials, website, videos and even prepared a project scrapbook of all outreach activities and events. Because of the significant impact that this project had on the entire Tampa Bay region, it was one of the most highly visible and exceptional projects that SRI has undertaken.

Pinellas Major Investment Study and Mobility Initiative, Pinellas County

Similar in scale to the Tampa Rail MIS/EIS, during this project, our firm focused efforts on engaging neighborhood and civic groups, business communities and agencies through workshops, meetings, presentations and community events. We coordinated with the local transit authority, FDOT and several municipalities. In addition to the usual techniques and outreach methods, we fostered understanding by bringing the concept to life through mobile exhibit boards and an interactive cd-rom/video containing monorail simulations.
